I read Nancy Drew books when I was a young girl. I was thrilled to get the chance to review a movie version of one of her books. This was a fun way to share a part of my childhood memories with my kids in an updated manner. It is wholesome family movie entertainment that they weren’t tempted to get sidetracked by other things while watching it.
About Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase
After the death of his wife, Carson Drew decides to leave Chicago behind and make a fresh start with his daughter in River Heights. Nancy Drew, who is a 16-year-old who longs for excitement, and adventure, and a chance to make a difference, River Heights seems mighty dull. Then she gains the opportunity to work on the Twin Elms mansion mysterious case. With the help of her best friends and the local “mean girl”, Nancy Drew is on the case!
Our Review
My kids are always wanting to play on their computers or phones while we watch movies/shows. In most cases, I let them do it because they don’t have much active time to play on them due to their school work and chores lists each day. Plus, they always have some project that they are working on.
I requested that for this wholesome family movie entertainment that they watch this movie ONLY. I expected to get rebuttals or a bunch of requests throughout the movie to do other things. I was pleasantly surprised to see them watching this entire movie without any desire to do anything else. They truly liked watching this movie. It was entertaining for ALL.Of.Us! I highly recommend this movie for anyone to watch with your younger kids. Your teenagers may not be overly thrilled to be forced to watch it start with, but I’m confident they’ll get wrapped up in watching the movie too.
