I must say, Ordinary Angels has been the best movie I've seen this year! If you're anything like me and love inspirational and motivational films, you must give this one a watch. And let's be honest, who isn't a fan of Alan Ritchson? I was beyond excited to be chosen to review this film, and it did not disappoint. Trust me, you won't regret watching Ordinary Angels.
About Ordinary Angels Movie
Based on a remarkable true story, ORDINARY ANGELS centers on Sharon (Hilary Swank), a fierce but struggling hairdresser in small-town Kentucky who discovers a renewed sense of purpose when she meets Ed (Alan Ritchson), a widower working hard to make ends meet for his two daughters. With his youngest daughter waiting for a liver transplant, Sharon sets her mind to helping the family and will move mountains to do it. What unfolds is the inspiring tale of faith, everyday miracles, and ordinary angels.

My Review of Ordinary Angels Movie
Ordinary Angels is one of those movies where you might as well grab a box of tissues before you hit play. It's moving in all the right ways, but what makes this movie so special to me is the reminder of just how POWERFUL God can be when He works through the people around us.
Now, I'll admit there are moments in this movie that seem a little unrealistic and over the top. But here's something life has taught me. When we allow God to work THROUGH us, He can make what seems impossible become possible. Sometimes all it takes is someone being willing to show up and help another person through a difficult season. That's what I love about Ordinary Angels. We get to watch that kind of love and faith in action.
And believe me, I know firsthand what it feels like when God's people show up right when you need them most.
In February 2006, I was involved in a terrible car accident that crushed my right ankle and my left middle finger. I was a newlywed with two young children, and I had just landed a management position at Waffle House. Life was finally moving in a direction I was excited about, and then, in the blink of an eye, everything changed.
I still remember the doctors telling me I'd never walk again. I looked right at one of them and told him he was wrong. I didn't know how I was going to prove him wrong, but I knew with every ounce of conviction I had that I would walk again.
Of course, having that kind of faith didn't mean I wasn't scared. I spent my days stuck on our couch with my legs propped up, unable to do much of anything for myself. I had two little kids depending on me, a new marriage, and no idea what our future was going to look like. Talk about feeling helpless!
Then one day, my mom pulled into our yard in her Ford F-250 truck. That long truck bed was filled to the brim with food, household supplies, and other things we needed. She also brought some money that our church family had gathered to help us get through that difficult time.
I don't think those church members will ever fully understand what their kindness meant to our family. Here we were, facing one of the scariest seasons of our lives, and people were quietly coming together to make sure we had what we needed. They didn't have to make some grand announcement or perform a miracle. They simply saw a family struggling and decided to do something about it.
That moment has stayed with me for over twenty years. Not because of how much food was in that truck or how much money they gave us, but because of the love behind it all. God's people showed up for our family when we needed them most.
And that's why Ordinary Angels touched me so deeply. Some people might watch it and think the things that happen are too good to be true. But I've lived through a season when ordinary people became extraordinary blessings simply because they were willing to help.
Sometimes God's miracles don't look the way we expect them to. Sometimes they look like a truck pulling into your driveway, loaded down with groceries and love.
One of my favorite scenes in Ordinary Angel is where the woman says:
So often, we don't trust when God states he'll provide what we need when we need it. As a result, we end up sinking and suffering longer than necessary. I believe Ordinary Angels makes a valid case in showing this father how powerful having faith and LIVING it out can be.
