I am on the hunt to save money on groceries as much as possible. I’m also trying to cut corners as much as possible. But when you have a home full of people with allergies and pickiness, it’s really hard to find reasonably priced items to feed the entire family.

I have joined some Frugal groups on Facebook. I have learned so many things and ways to save money each month. I hope to continue to learn more as I go along.

Top Tips I’ve Learned to Save Money on Groceries

Shop your home first!

I have been flabbergasted by the fact that I can make many delicious meals with what I have at home. Foodcombo.com is a helpful tool.

Meal plan.

When you meal plan, you know what groceries you need. Plus, it allows you to buy things according to what you can use in more than one meal. Get a free Weekly Menu Planner by signing up for my newsletter.

Save Coupons.

I have most stores apps on my phone. I can easily save coupons from each store on my apps directly that way when I input my grocery store membership ID those savings are already available to use. I also check out Swagbucks coupon section too.

Personally, I did not see the value in getting newspapers for their coupons anymore. But you can obtain many of those online still. Be sure to check out SouthernSavers.com if you live in the south east region of the US.

Grow a Garden.

My mother-in-law and best friend both grow gardens. They save me TONS of money because I love my lettuce, cucumbers, red and green peppers, onions, tomatoes, zucchini, eggplants, and potatoes just to name a few things they grow that I take full advantage of getting. Many libraries offer seed exchange programs. Also be sure to check out local Facebook groups for fellow gardeners giving away extra seeds.

Pay Attention to Prices.

Make sure you do store comparisons on the prices. While it’s a bit time consuming, you can create a spreadsheet and keep track of the average price of items you buy on a continuous bases. This will help you track who is giving you the most bang for your buck. Be sure you check out the prices verses the AMOUNT of product you’re getting. Sometimes name brand products are cheaper than store brands. So be sure to check them ALL out!

Shop More than One Store.

If you’re like me you have some of the most popular stores relatively close together. I find I save a lot of money buying things at Aldi’s and Lidl’s verses Walmart. But they don’t carry good meats. Nor do they always have things I want. Also, lately Dollar Tree has had some items that can save me money on groceries.

Buy in Bulk.

I am a member of Sam’s Club and BJ’s Wholesale. While buying in bulk can save money on groceries, you do have to be careful. It does require serious planning and price comparisons to ensure you’re honestly saving money in the long run.

When things do go on sale or a good coupon is out, stock up as much as you can on those items that won’t perish quickly. It will save you in the long run for sure! A stocked pantry is such a money saver. Honestly, stocking up on spices and baking goods is truly my biggest savings I gain from having a wholesale membership.

Avoid Precut Products.

Buying cut up fruits and vegetables is not a money saver! But I will say, I do buy frozen blends of onions and peppers because I don’t use them before the ones I buy go bad. So, I do have to keep those things in mind when it comes to cost verses the reality of me using the products.

Keep Kids at Home.

I can’t stress this one enough! Even if you’re a queen of being able to say no to your kids, it’s still hard to resist giving into some kind of splurg for them. This is especially true when they are well behaved! Those puppy dog eyes are pretty powerful, at least for me!

Shop Farmer’s Markets.

Farmer’s Markets not only provide fresher higher quality products, but sometimes they provide the best deal.

The GOLDEN RULE!! Don’t Shop When Hungry!!

Added Benefits For Online Grocery Shopping

I have started ordering my groceries online too! Thanks to having the Moohlah extension AND Swagbucks on my browser, I saved money on the cost of the groceries AND got a $10 coupon added to my order. (The coupon part was a total surprise!) PLUS, I earned Swagbucks.

Plus, this keeps me from buying things that weren’t already on my list. For someone who has health issues, it’s SOOOO NICE to be able to wait on someone to BRING my groceries to me.

I have not been a YouTuber fan very much, but I have found myself watching YouTube a lot more! I have gained so many wonderful ideas and ways to live on limited funds for our family of five. It’s been a blessing, to say the least!

All of these amazing YouTubers will help you save money on groceries without coupons!

Earn Money Back with These Apps

I’ve shared plenty of apps to earn you money on my put money in your pockets post. But it bears repeating! These apps are easy to use and are simple ways to save money on groceries without coupons.

Receipt Jar if you sign up use the CODE CRYSGWW6F to earn extra points now.

Swagbucks also gives you bucks for redeeming receipts. And for shopping online!

Ibotta is popular, but I have had major issues with that app since I had to change my email address. But when it worked, it was EXTREMELY nice to earn money off that app!

CoinOut is simple to use. But it seems to take a long time to be able to actually redeem points.

Receipt Pal is another one that seems to take a bit to redeem, but it’s easy to use.

Fetch is an extremely popular app for good reason. It’s super simple, and the points add up quickly.

I hope these ideas helped you to save money on groceries in your home. Every penny saved does quickly add up.
