While working from home can be great, there are downsides too, as I’m sure you know if you’re one of the millions of people who work from home. Generally speaking, though, most people like it. Which may be one reason that number is growing. The internet is making it possible for more and more people to work remotely. This means that the competition is getting a little stiff. No matter what kind of business you run, chances are your competition is growing every day.

So how do you gain an edge over your competition? How do you make sure your clients stay yours? When it comes to growing your home business, a little bit extra goes a long way.

Marketing is a must for any business. Here is a unique method to promoting your home-based business without breaking the bank.

Add A Personal Touch

For years the best way to stay in your client’s mind has been to go above and beyond. Not only should you be delivering your best work or product to your customers on time and with as little fuss as possible, but you should also be sending them something personal.

An email is okay, but there’s really no personal touch there. Emails take all of five minutes to write and they’re easily overlooked. This is where an actual, physical letter comes in handy. This tried-and-true method is personal, it takes some time to put together (but not too much), and it tells your clients or customers that their business is appreciated. While some of your clients may overlook this printed marketing method, it is worth the risk to gain the clients who will truly appreciate your effort compared to other businesses that don’t go the extra mile.

Give Them Something They’ll Remember

Now, if you really want to take this to the next level and be sure to garner some gratitude and respect, you’ll want to go a step further. Including a business card is good, but what’s even better is something small and useful like a custom USB drive.

A letter will be read, thrown away, and quickly forgotten about. But giving your clients something, they will actually use is one of the best ways to be remembered the next time they have a need for your products or services. Since you can get these flash drives custom made from wholesalers like USB Memory Direct with your website, logo, and name, you’ll have managed to give your client a reminder of you every time they use the drive.

Not only that, but flash drives and other useful promo products are also great for any trade shows or conferences you may be attending. You can plan on giving them out to people you meet on a daily basis, or as an add-on for any products you’re selling. Plus, you don’t have to break the bank to get them made since you can buy most custom products in bulk which reduces the price greatly.

So next time you finish a job or fulfill an order for a client, write a quick thank-you note with pen and paper, slip it into an envelope with one of your flash drives, and mail it out next time you run an errand. At most you’ll have a client for life. At the very least you’ll have made someone happy. After all, who doesn’t like getting free stuff they’ll actually use?
