Dog Gone is a wonderful family movie found on Netflix. I knew from the preview it was going to be a movie that I’d watch the first chance I got once it became live on Netflix.

I’m glad I encouraged my kids to watch it with me. We gained several laughs, a few tears, and some aha moments.

Is Your Family Ready for a Dog?

Owning a dog is a big responsibility. Be sure that your family is ready for a dog with these tips. If you know of someone considering getting a dog be sure to share this with them.

I lost my dog that I had since I was four years old when I was in my preteen years, and it was devastating to be without her for several months. Luckily she was found and returned to us, but she was never fully the same after that experience without us. She was also my very first best friend in life! So, watching this movie did bring back all those emotions in me as well.

I have always had a dog in my life. Dogs make wonderful side kicks. Yes, they love you unconditionally. They are also quite loyal to you as well!

If you’ve followed my Instagram page for any period of time, you’ve sure to have seen pictures of Muffin on there. She’s my current emotional support animal. She does a remarkable job of helping me to stay calm and even killed.

Hearing What Is Being Said

While this movie is about the journey to find Gonker, it’s also a movie about a father and son finding their relationship again too.

My own grown children are in the midst of finding their own trails in life. I keep wanting to steer them down the path I think they should take in their lives. I have tried diligently to NOT voice my opinions overly much. But the overprotective nature in me, can’t seem to resist wanting to try to force my kids to come back home and get their ducks in a row.

In essence, like this father in this movie, I am pushing my kids away from me. I’m definitely NOT trying to do it. However, gosh knows I am very guilty of it. But I also do know that they have to live their lives the way that makes them happy.

I loved the gentle way they incorporated that very common topic that is happening in relationships around the world. Because my generation and before was all raised we go to college, get a job, and then we settle down. But our kids (even in my opinion) are smarter than us and realizing that life is short! The time to truly LIVE and make mistakes in life is NOW. And there is money to be had in almost any passion we may have.

Overall, this is a wonderful movie. It’s not fast or fully engaging the whole way through it. But it’s got enough laughter and drama to keep you interested.

    • It is getting harder and harder to find wholesome family entertainment. That is one of the reasons I do love UpTv and Pure Flix. But I do like that Netflix is starting to ensure they are including more movies/shows like this.

Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I hope to see you again soon.

  1. This movie sounds so good, Crystal! I have always been a fan of Rob Lowe and I love dogs too! We have two cats, but up until I got together with my husband, I grew up with dogs. They truly are so special and they are family.

Hope you have a wonderful week, friend! šŸ™‚

  4. I haven’t heard of this movie before, it sounds interesting. I do love movies with animals. But I won’t watch things like Marley and Me as I don’t want to be upset! Ha ha! Thank you for sharing.

  5. It is so rare to find a family friendly movie that is wholesome these days. I have to be honest, I can’t watch any movies that have sad parts. sometimes I start to watch a movie and when I start crying I turn it off. This sounds like a touching wholesome movie that I may have to check out.
Thank you bunches for sharing this with Sweet Tea & Friends this month dear friend.
