Over the years I have become some what of a tech junkie. I've learned as much as I can about using various programs and software. I've also dabbled into coding with my kids. We've tried to use various free online coding classes, but they have only taught us so much information. My youngest son has grown fond of learning coding, and has taken some coding courses through the online school we use. However, when I was given the chance to have him review a MYTEK Lab online coding class, he agreed to take the it.
About MYTEK Lab Courses
MYTEK LAB offers students the opportunity to become tech savvy beings in the comfort of their own homes. MYTEK LAB offers engaging live online technology instruction for grades 3rd-12th. You have the ability to choose the courses that suit what your children need to still learn in technology.
In the Level 1 course, that we got to review, my son got to review programming fundamentals, many different creative applications, web design tools as well as many general technology concepts.
This class is a year long class that covers:
- Computer fundamentals
- 2D Game Art
- Programming
- 3D modeling for games
- VR Development
- Web Design
- Web Development
- 3D Modeling for 3D Printing
These classes are designed for middle to high school students. This provides students 1 credit in Computer Education per class taken.
The average class is 50 minutes long. They have various class schedules to choose from. The TEKnology Lab Level 1 course is $49.00. Each class is recorded, so even if your child can't attend live classes they can still stay up to date on the material by watching the videos and doing the assignments.
Coding Classes Review
My youngest son stated that he didn't feel that they went into enough detail during trainings. However, it is a fun way to experience learning coding skills. Mr. MYTEK made it fun because he allowed us to use our own creativity using the various apps on the website. We also go to see each other's projects which made us feel like we were together in a way.
Delbert loved the fact that he could reach out to the instructor via Discord. There are also help sessions available to him to join should he need them. He felt like he could freely ask for help as he needed it. He did on one occasion and he received a response in a very timely manner.
This course allows kids to learn new technology skillsets that will benefit them for the long run. The instructors seem to know how to reach kids where they are and make an honest connection with them. From what I can tell, they make learning engaging. They allow the students to use their own creativity to create projects that they can be proud to showcase.

The neat thing about these classes is while they’ve designed it for teens, but I feel like he kept it adultish enough that adults would like it too.
