During my birthday week-long vacation, I’ve been on the lookout for family-friendly movies to watch with my daughter. We enjoyed watching My Spy, and I think that My Spy: The Eternal City would be a great choice for our movie night.

Back by popular demand, My Spy’s dynamic duo, veteran CIA operative JJ (Dave Bautista) and his 14-year-old stepdaughter and protégé Sophie (Chloe Coleman), reunite to save the world when a high school choir tour of Italy is interrupted by a nefarious nuclear plot targeting the Vatican.

My daughter and I had a blast yesterday during our My Spy movie marathon. We started off by rewatching the first My Spy movie to immerse ourselves in the characters and storyline once again. Then, we delved into the sequel, My Spy: The Eternal City.

The movie was entertaining, but I leaned more towards the first My Spy movie. While the sequel tried to amp up the excitement with numerous action scenes, I felt that they didn’t quite measure up to the original.

Seeing Sophie Coleman and Dave Bautista reunited on screen was a delight. However, Dave’s portrayal in this movie differed from what I had anticipated. I’m still trying to articulate my complete feelings about this movie. There were aspects that I genuinely enjoyed, but overall, I was left with a sense of underwhelming.
