From the moment I caught a glimpse of the first trailer for the “Average Joe” movie, I’ve been eagerly counting down the days until I can finally watch it. The story seemed strangely familiar, as if it had been a part of my life before I saw it on screen. Nonetheless, this familiarity only increased my anticipation and excitement to support and experience this profoundly inspiring movie.

About Average Joe Movie

Average Joe Movie Review 1

High school football coach Joe Kennedy had no other choice but to fight. A childhood in foster care followed by 20 years in the Marine Corps was nothing compared to his biggest battle: his commitment to stand for God publicly by taking a knee in prayer after each game. When he was fired, Joe and his wife Denise knew this battle for religious freedom, freedom of speech, and the rights of all Americans was one they would have to fight—no matter the cost. From the director and producers of God’s Not Dead and the producers of The Blind comes AVERAGE JOE, in theaters beginning October 11.

My Review of Average Joe Movie

I was eager to review the Average Joe movie because I’m a huge fan of standing up for a person’s beliefs. As a Christian, I know that I’m going to face tons of criticism and pushback because of my beliefs. And while I’m not a fan of confrontations, I will face them head-on when needed.

The main character, Joe, and I share a similar upbringing. We both learned early on that if we don’t stand for something, we can easily fall for the wrong things. As a result, our temperaments are the same: if we believe in something, we will go entirely against the grain and stand our ground regardless of the cost.

One of my favorite songs growing up was “You’ve Got to Stand for Something” by Aaron Tippin. I stood up for many things throughout my life and became well-known as someone who wasn’t afraid to move mountains. To this day, I may be more reserved because I consider how my actions impact my family, but if I were in Joe’s shoes, I’d like to believe that I would still be kneeling on that football field and praying, too.

Gosh knows, I don’t hold back in sharing my beliefs on this blog and across social media. I am glad that we have the constitutional right to do this, and I’m pleased that people like Joe have ensured that we have that right to this day.

I’ve noticed a growing trend in our Christian community: People fear speaking out or sharing their beliefs freely. Yet, we need to share them even more now than ever. People are hearing more from people who oppose God than from people who have faith and the Holy Spirit living in them.

But the truth is that the Average Joe movie is NOT primarily about promoting faith in God. It’s about how we all are fighting to protect our rights. In many ways, we are all losing our rights in various ways and forms. From social media channels trying to censor the things we openly share on their channels to Google burying or even removing particular stuff from their search engines and sooooo much more.

I’ve always believed that everyone is entitled to their beliefs and opinions. We can agree to disagree and still get along. In many areas of our lives, there is more than one way to accomplish the same things. Every story has two sides, and perception is 9/10th of the law. We live in a society where we can still love and care about others without believing in the same things.

If you don’t believe in God, question those who still have faith, and you’ll find out HOW and WHY we can still have it despite our life hardships. My faith in God has been shaken many times throughout my life. Yet, despite everything I’ve lived through and continue to deal with, he has never once forsaken me. Nor has he let me down in providing what we need.

The Average Joe is an inspirational film worth watching, but I do not think it would entertain young audiences. It did have a bit of a slow start, but once the storyline took off, it became a fantastic movie.
