Every parent wants the best for their children, and birthday parties are no exception. If your kid is about to celebrate their birthday, then you surely want to give them the most awesome party of their life (until next year, that is). Instead of a typical celebration, do something special, and throw an exciting themed party this year. Your little one will be overjoyed to have a birthday celebration using any of these popular kids’ party themes.
Minecraft is one of the most popular games worldwide, and a lot of kids are crazy about it. Your little one is likely one of them. If they are, you may as well combine something they love in your plans for their birthday party. It’s easy to throw a Minecraft-themed party because the game has very distinct graphics that many modern games have shunned—blocky, pixelated images.
Google Minecraft party images, and you’ll find lots of inspiration and ideas on how to incorporate the theme to the invitations, party favors, decorations, food, and activities and games. Minecraft aesthetics use lots of greens to represent grass and other plants, browns for soil or ground, and industrial inspiration, using bare red bricks, concrete, and tools used for mining. Because the game is so well-known, there are lots of ready-made Minecraft party supplies you can buy, so you don’t have to create your own.
If your kid is not playing Minecraft, chances are, they’re playing Roblox instead. Roblox is another popular multiplayer game, where users can create, design, and engage their own game creations, like obstacle courses, racing, role-playing, and simulations.
To throw a Roblox party, you can incorporate the game aesthetics to everything, from the invitation and party favors to the food and activities. Since the game is so massive and dynamic, there are lots of aesthetics to choose from. But the key thing is to use building blocks toys in the design, as well as using lots of blue, red, yellow, and green, which are Roblox colors.
How to Train Your Dragon
How to Train Your Dragon just released its third and last installment this year, which received lots of positive reviews from critics and a lot of love from young viewers (and the young at heart). It may be a few months after the premiere, but now is just as good a time as any to throw your kiddo a How to Train Your Dragon party.
Vikings, dragons, and adventures—these are the key things you need to remember to throw the best How to Train Your Dragon party ever. Since you can’t find real dragons, create a cutout or print a massive tarpaulin of Toothless and other dragons. Incorporate Viking tools and weapons to decor and party favors too.
And don’t forget to get your little bud a Viking helmet with the horns and a toy sword to bring the theme full circle. You can also indicate in the invitation to let the little guests wear their best Viking costumes.
Everyone dreams of becoming a witch or wizard and going to Hogwarts. If your kiddo is turning 11 this year, don’t miss the opportunity to throw them a magical Harry Potter party (a consolation since you can’t get them a Hogwarts admission letter).
Go all-out with a setup resembling the Hogwarts Great Hall, complete with tapestries (or tarps) of each house—Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin—and Harry Potter–inspired party decorations. Don’t forget the fancy goblets and utensils and floating candles or, in this case, hanging candles from the ceiling.
Of course, your little bud should have their very own wizarding robes, Hogwarts house uniform, and magical ones. In the invitation, encourage the attendees to dress up too.
Marvel Meets DC
Avengers: Endgame came out a few days ago, so there’s no better time than now to hold a Marvel theme party for your superhero-loving little one. Of course, you can’t leave out the DC-loving people too, so you may as well make it a Marvel meets DC party or an awesome superhero party to be more inclusive.
It’s super easy to throw a superhero party. All you need are Marvel- and DC-inspired decorations, like party hangers with distinct superhero logos, a backdrop from a Marvel or DC comic or movie scene, and replicas of signature weapons. You can incorporate the logos in the food too, and your kiddo can dress up as their favorite superhero.
Legos are all-time favorite toys for kids, and there’s nothing kids would love more than to have a Lego birthday party. To start, you should incorporate lots of Lego stuff in the party setup, from the decorations to the party favors.
Use lots of Lego color, like red, blue, yellow, and green, to truly capture the aesthetic. Create giant replicas of Lego blocks to serve as decor. Here’s a video tutorial for building Lego blocks out of boxes.
The invitation, food, and activities and games should also include Lego-related things to complete the whole aesthetic. You can also let the little ones dress up as their most beloved Lego movie characters.
Fortnite is a widely played online video game released in 2017. It’s played by over 125 million users, including a lot of kids. If your kiddo plays this game, then they’re guaranteed to enjoy a Fortnite-themed party on their birthday.
The game has several heroes, which are divided into subclasses—the soldiers, the constructors, the ninjas, and the outlanders. You can choose the heroes or subclasses your kids love to play with and follow their aesthetics for the party. Or you can incorporate each subclass design in your setup. Then you can either create your own Fortnite party supplies or buy off the rack items.
