It's been YEARS since I've picked up a book like Wild & Worthy by Rebecka Cole, and I didn't realize how much I'd missed reading a good rodeo romance until I started this one. There's still a cowgirl in me who loves the rodeo atmosphere, cowboy boots, and a love story with a little country grit mixed in.

I'm glad I was given the opportunity to read this book because it reminded me why I used to enjoy these kinds of stories so much. Sometimes it's nice to step away from my usual reading choices and revisit something that speaks to a different side of me. And let me tell you, the cowgirl in me was more than happy to spend some time back in the rodeo world!

Wild & Worthy Book Review 1

About Wild & Worthy Book

The rules were simple.

Don't touch my best friend’s little sister.

I've followed that rule for years. Through every family dinner, every late night at a bar, every time she looked at me like she was deciding whether to light me on fire or laugh.

Then I blew out my shoulder, lost my spot on the circuit, and somehow ended up riding shotgun on her summer tour. Broke, banned from competing, and running out of options fast.

I told myself I could handle it.

Eight weeks on the road. Two people. One truck.

I was wrong.

Addie isn't just my friend's little sister anymore. She's sharp, relentless and she rides like she's got something to prove — because she does. She doesn't need saving. Doesn't want it. And she sure as hell doesn't need me watching her the way I've been watching her.

But somewhere between Montana and Wyoming, between the late nights and the long miles and the way she laughs when she thinks nobody's listening, the rules stopped making sense.

I've done a lot of stupid things in my life.

Falling for my best friend's sister might be the one I can't come back from.

My Review of Wild & Worthy

Chase drove me absolutely nuts in the beginning of this book with the way he constantly picked on Addy. If I had been in her shoes, I would have shot him down at every turn, too! That side of Chase definitely DID NOT remind me of Del. However, once Chase stopped trying so hard to annoy Addy and started letting her see the real man behind all that aggravating behavior, things changed. That's when I could easily picture Del in Chase's shoes.

Del has always been the kind of man who takes care of my little needs without me even having to ask. He's not one for big romantic gestures, but when he does something romantic, it's usually when I least expect it. And gosh knows, even after 18 years of marriage, the chemistry between us is still VERY much alive! That's what I loved about watching Chase and Addy's relationship develop. Once Chase let his guard down, I could see the kind of love and devotion he was capable of giving her.

The part that absolutely made me cry my eyes out was when Chase talked about not knowing who he was anymore after losing bull riding. I understood that feeling more than I wanted to because I went through something similar when I thought I'd never be able to ride horses again. I felt lost for the longest time because horses have always been such a big part of who I am. Now that I know I can love a horse again the way Addy loves Dusty, I'm working diligently to change our circumstances so I can have that part of my life back. I'm counting down the days until I can finally feel whole again in that way.

I found myself relating to BOTH Addy and Chase throughout this book, which doesn't happen very often for me. Their chemistry was practically bouncing off the pages! I'll also mention that the sex scenes are pretty explicit, but they're easy enough to skip over without losing track of the storyline if that's not your thing.

One of my absolute favorite scenes was when Chase told Addy, "You're not a one-time fuck kind of woman." It wasn't just the words that got me, but everything he said afterward about her deserving a man who would cherish her and never want another woman. That reminded me so much of Del because he's always made it clear that he desires me just as much today as he did when we first got together, and he's never left me questioning whether he's in this marriage for life. Yet, like Chase, Del has moments when he doesn't feel worthy of me or worries that I might eventually find someone better. I wish he could see himself through my eyes because he'd understand there's nobody else I'm looking for.

I also enjoyed the background story involving Chase's family and all the drama surrounding them. It added another layer to the story beyond the romance and gave me even more reasons to keep turning the pages.

I could easily picture Wild & Worthy becoming a TV series I'd want to watch. Between the rodeo atmosphere, the family drama, and the chemistry between Addy and Chase, there's plenty here to keep me entertained. I'm also curious whether Rebecka Cole has a third book planned for the Ashford Ridge series because I'm definitely not ready to leave this world behind!

Final Thoughts on Wild & Worthy

I went into Wild & Worthy expecting to enjoy a good rodeo romance, but I certainly wasn't expecting it to bring back so many memories or stir up emotions I hadn't thought about in a while. That's what I love about reading. Sometimes a book entertains you, and other times it reminds you of parts of yourself you've been missing.

I'd recommend this one to anyone who enjoys cowboy romances with plenty of chemistry, complicated family relationships, and characters who have to figure out who they are when life doesn't go according to plan. Just know that this is a spicy romance, so keep that in mind if you prefer cleaner reads.

I'm glad I had the opportunity to read Wild & Worthy, and I think it's safe to say the cowgirl in me is ready for more rodeo romances!
