A fellow blogger shared how she wrote a book called Secrets in the Babby House, and it captured my attention enough that I asked her to review it on my blog. I’m honored that she decided to take me up on this offer.

About Secrets in the Babby House Book

Secrets in the Babby House book is one that is worth adding to your to-read list. This sweet small-town book will fulfill your inquiring mind. #bookreviews #bookrecommendations #booklover #sharinglifesmoments

Flossie Lynch is heartbroken when her only love, Frank Connolly, marries another. So when John O’Malley—the well-off catch of the parish—proposes to her, she resigns herself to a marriage of convenience, hoping to learn to love him.
For John, Flossie is mostly a respectable wife and caring mother to their son—and the perfect façade for his dark secret. But bloody Frank Connolly and his blackmailing wife are making things difficult for him.
Another victim of his jealous wife’s abusive behavior, Frank stays in his loveless marriage for the sake of his two wee girls. He turns his childhood fort into a babby house to give them refuge from their cruel mother. But for Frank, there is no refuge.
When Flossie rekindles her friendship with Frank, she tries desperately to save him from a life of misery and promises to always look out for his daughters. As the two star-crossed lovers near a second chance, tragedy strikes, forcing Flossie to make good on her promise—while attempting to protect her husband and son.
But as long as there’s a Connolly with a score to settle, there is no escape from the past and no promises for the future.

Set in a gossipy small town in Ireland at a time when marriage is for keeps and sexuality is repressed, Secrets in the Babby House is a family saga over three decades that starts in 1956. It is a story of love, deception, and stolen diaries filled with sins and secrets.

My Secrets in the Babby House Book Review

This first part of this book was more drawn out than I felt was needed. But it was so worth reading that first section to get into the book fully.

The book became quite engaging after what felt like an extended long first part. I can see why Gloria wrote the book the way she did. Once I got all the different pieces of the story put together, it was fun learning about the families and all the various Secrets in the Babby House.

As someone who has a lot of interesting stories from my own past, I had fun reading this book. I was furious over the things Alice did. I couldn’t blame Flossie and Frank for their relationship either. Although I do not believe in extramarital affairs, I do know what it’s like to marry out of convenience (which is all for the WRONG reasons.) I also know what it’s like to long for a man you’re not with who you love with your whole soul and being. (Hence, why I’m now finally married to the love of my life for almost 15 years.)

Secrets in the Babby House is a wonderful book filled with a wide range of little stories that interweave well together. If you are a small-town lover, then this book will be just juicy enough to make you eager to finish it fully.
