This year has been hard on so many people! We certainly have had our fair share of ups and downs. I haven’t been sharing them because quite frankly I didn’t think anyone would want to hear it. However, the more that I have been blogging from the heart, the more I see that it does matter to you all. You have missed hearing about our lives and making that connection with me. I definitely missed connecting with you through your comments on the blog and your emails. It feels wonderful to have that back.

Beginning of 2020
I seriously believe we got hit with COVID in December, January, and February in our home. The most severe case of it happened in January. We were all so sick that I didn’t think my daughter and husband were going to pull through it. But thankfully, they have.
I have seen this has not always been the case for others. It breaks my heart to hear these cases called into the job I do. Please know, if you’ve lost someone due to COVID or anything else my heart does go out to you.
Losing Income
Then the shutdown happened. Everyone started hurting financially because many of the sponsors I had for the blog lost their budgets. To top things off, I couldn’t handle keeping the extra job I had on the weekend because the callers did a heck of a lot of yelling at me.
Making the adjustment from having three sources of income down to one has been quite a ride. It’s still a struggle, but God is in control. But we have everything we need, and we are truly blessed. Considering everything happening in this world, it has helped to keep my kids from asking for too much.
Adjustments in Working Situation
I have dreamed of working from home for years. I am finally doing it and LOVE it. My kids love being able to come in and say they love me and give me a hug. I’ve loved the fact that I no longer have to commute back and forth and have more time to cook healthier meals.
Feeling Older
I turned 41 this year, AND I became a grandmother for the first time. While my granddaughter may be over 700 miles away, I still know and love her. I get to video chat with her, but it’s not enough. COVID definitely hasn’t helped with me being able to physically see her.
Depression Battles
I have been fighting depression most of my life. This year it’s been a struggle, hence why I haven’t written as much. My depression hurts my ability to be consistent with content. There are times that I’m so far lost in a dark space that it’s nearly impossible to write anything. COVID has made it harder to do the things that I normally do with my kids to help battle the depression.
This year has been a long roller coaster ride. I have had plenty of ups and downs. I am curious how your year has been. Has COVID reshaped so much of my life, I imagine it’s done the same for you??
Here’s to hoping that 2021 is a much smoother ride and one with plenty of blessings.

Yes! Everyone in my family was very sick in January 2020 and when I went to the ER they told me it was just an upper respiratory virus and to go home. I can also relate to the “feeling older” section too. I just turned 48 and looking forward to becoming a grandma for the second time in July but at the same time I know I am having a mini-mid-life crisis, which isn’t helping in the middle of all the other craziness going on. Best wishes for a safe, healthy, and happy new year!
That’s exactly what they did to us too.
Congrats on the second grandbaby. My husband, myself, my niece, and my granddaughter were all born in July. July is a great month. 🙂 LOL .
Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I hope to see you again soon.
