Few people are blessed with flawless skin, most of us have blackheads and we are always in a search for a treatment. Your questions may be why do you get blackheads and what can you do to get rid of them for good.
Why do you get blackheads?
Dermatologists state that blackheads are small plugs that form in the exit of your hair follicle. They are open pores clogged with dead skin cells and oil, and they get a dark colour because they are exposed to oxygen. You should not have the misconception that they are related to poor hygiene or dirt, you can get them even if you are the cleanest person on the planet. Blackheads are considered the least inflamed form of acne, but they are a type of skin problem that constricts the pores.
If you want to find out how to get rid of blackheads here are some basic guidelines.
Use facial masks weekly
Facial masks function similar to a vacuum cleaner, they suck the excess gunk from your pores. It is recommended to use them more than once a week if you want to get rid of blackheads and to prevent their appearance. You should use a facial mask at least once a week before taking a shower because it will prevent the growth of threats hidden in the clogged pores. When the mask feels tight on your skin, you can remove it because it is a sign that it cleared away the excess oil. For achieving the best results, you should use the best pore vacuum for your skin type.
Moisturise your skin twice a day
Sun exposure can enlarge your pores and can dry your skin cells, you can prevent this if you use a nutrient-rich moisturiser packed with SPF. A moisturizer will help your skin stay firmer for a longer period, the pores will remain smaller, and it will create a barrier on the top of your skin to prevent environmental threats from affecting your skin. You should apply the moisturizer on the morning and before bed, the bedtime cream does not have to contain SPF.
Use a cleanser that contains salicylic acid
Your skincare routine should include three steps: cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing. But you can reduce it to two steps if you replace the physical exfoliator with a cleanser that contains salicylic acid, which is a chemical exfoliator. You will no longer scrub away the dead skin cells because the salicylic acid will dissolve them and it will remove even the residues inside the pores. The product will have two roles: to clean and to exfoliate your skin.
Apply tretinoin before bed
It is known that retinoids are products that prevent acne, tighten pores and combat the signs of sun exposure and aging. You can use a low-concentration retinol product to prevent blackheads. Make sure you discuss with your dermatologist to offer you a prescription for a tretinoin based skin care product because they can tell if this is the right treatment for you. It can be applied during nighttime, it will make your skin firmer, tighter and it will remove blemishes.
