Zeva has a real passion for cooking, a trait she certainly didn’t inherit from me but seems to have picked up from my husband. She loves spending quality time in the kitchen, using her creativity to whip up mouthwatering meals and delightful treats for the whole family. I’m always looking for ways to nurture her talent, so when the opportunity arose to review “Cooking Class, 10th Anniversary Edition” on NetGalley, I was eager to take it.
About Cooking Class, 10th Anniversary Edition

This friendly cookbook includes recipes for yummy, nourishing meals kids can make by following easy visual instructions.
With kid-tested recipes for every meal of the day and step-by-step photographic instructions specially written for kids, the best-selling Cooking Class is the favorite for kids eager to learn how to cook. The 10th-anniversary edition expands on the original to include new recipes, new diverse photos, and a sturdy paper-over-board format.
From breakfast sundaes and French toast on a stick to homemade peanut butter, kids learn that cooking from scratch using fresh ingredients can be fun and delicious. In addition to mastering their favorite foods, budding young cooks learn kitchen skills, from cutting and whisking to frying, grilling, sautéing and simmering.
Bonus pull-out pages help kids put the finishing touches on their meals with place cards, meal-time conversation-starter games, recipes cards, and stickers for labeling their homemade food to share with others.
My Review of Cooking Class, 10th Anniversary Edition

I reviewed this book before I let Zeva take over with it. I was impressed that it provides students with initial instructions on how to set up for cooking and safety tips. Each recipe gives a full overview of what items and food products are needed.

I like how it is designed so that the kids can fully do everything independently. The detailed instructions already cover the standard questions that she typically asks when she is cooking.
I was shocked that some recipes in this kid’s cooking book were not exactly what I would picture kids wanting to make for themselves. There was a nice mixture of things they would like and fancier-style meals they could make for the whole family.
As an adult who was never taught how to cook outside of Waffle House, I also learned a few things! I like how the author did not make the reader feel dumb or assume knowledge was there for anything despite it being a 10th-anniversary edition.
If you have a budding chef, I highly recommend the Cooking Class, 10th Anniversary Edition book.

It is an impressive book for sure. We are reviewing another kids cooking book soon too. I am hoping it’s at least half as good as this one. 🙂 Zeva truly loves to cook, and this is such a fun experience for us. (Considering I’ve always hated cooking, her enthusiam and these cookbooks are actually making it fun for me too.)
