I couldn’t wait to watch Your Place or Mine because it’s filled with actors and actresses I love! I would have watched it regardless of the storyline. However, this storyline is such a sweet romance movie that’s perfect for this time of year.

About Your Place or Mine Movie

Your Place or Mine Movie Netflix Review 1

YOUR PLACE OR MINE sees Reese and Ashton playing Debbie and Peter, who’ve been best friends for 20 years even though they’re total opposites. Practical, risk-averse accountant Debbie craves routine and stability with her son Jack (Wesley Kimmel) in LA; Stylish brand consultant Peter thrives on change in New York City. When they swap houses and lives for a week, they learn they haven’t told each other everything after all and discover what they think they want might not be what they really need.

Written, directed, and produced by Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada, 27 Dresses), the film also stars Jesse Williams, Zoë Chao, Steve Zahn, Tig Notaro, Griffin Matthews, Rachel Bloom

Shiri Appleby, and Vella Lovell.

Your Place or Mine Movie Netflix Review 2

“The idea of this movie is that if you’ve been telling yourself a story that limits you, you can tell yourself a different story. You can try things and break out of ideas you might have about your age or the way you look. It’s never too late to tell yourself a different story and that might lead you to some unexpected happiness. And the courage it takes to take an emotional leap towards someone.”

My Your Place or Mine Netflix Movie Review

Let me say first that I’m a huge fan of Reese Witherspoon! So, my opinion of this movie will have some bias behind it.

This movie was super cute and sweet!

As a woman who RAN with my behind on fire into…

  • two FLAMING hot messes of marriages
  • TONS of terrible hook-ups and sloppy relationships

… for over 16 years of avoiding following my heart, soul, and body to be with my one true love, this movie hit home hard!

My NOW husband and I have known each other for almost thirty years. Due to MY fear of love and not feeling like I deserved to have it or I wasn’t good enough for him, I didn’t follow my heart and marry him the first go around. Our relationship was quite similar to the couple in this movie. But the one big difference is my husband NEVER once waivered in reminding me how much he loves me and wanted me as his wife.

But while this a love story. I also found that this movie also covered some other topics in subtle ways. One thing it brought to the forefront was the fact that we often allow fear to stand in our way. As a result, we tend to miss out on experiencing true happiness in our lives.

It also covers how it feels to be the one who someone hurts who doesn’t follow their heart. I know I’ve hurt several people throughout my life because I didn’t stay true to my feelings. Instead, I tried to bury them under the rug, and move on with my life with someone else. Obviously, that did not end well for anyone!

This movie is wholesome, funny, and a reminder that it’s never too late for true love! It is a lot like a Hallmark movie, but if you like those then you’ll love this movie too.
