I had seen a lot of buzz about the Straw movie on Facebook, and I couldn’t wait to watch it. I honestly had no idea what the movie was about until I started viewing it. However, once I began watching, I quickly related to the main character.

My Review of Straw Movie

The opening scene of this movie pulls at your heartstrings right away. This movie makes you feel everything until the end. It’s one of those movies that you can’t just forget about after you’ve watched it. Now I can honestly say, I can see what the fuss is about!

As a woman who was a single mother for a period of my life, I can testify to how hard it is to be one! Just like what this woman went through, there were so many times when I felt like I was stuck between a rock and a hard place.

(Shoot, I still think that way in my life, but at least I’m in these trenches with my husband and a supportive family now.)

The whole concept behind the Straw movie was to raise awareness about how challenging it is to try to do everything on your own. I was single in the early 2000s when life wasn’t as complicated as it has become.

Inflation has made these situations three times worse. It’s nearly impossible to be there for your child(ren) and keep everything afloat.

In this woman’s case, the situation was multiplied by having a sick child. My heart was bleeding for her! I can see why she snapped.

This was such a powerful movie!! I don’t want to ruin it for you by sharing to much.

  • Employers hold so much power over their employees and the outcomes of their daily lives. They need to take into consideration how their decisions impact those who work for them!
  • Landlords, bill collectors, etc. need to realize that sometimes time is needed for things to be paid.
  • Onlookers, figure out how you can help those around you and help them.
  • Family and friends help as you can.

We live in a cut-throat society where so many seem to only look after themselves. Nine times out of ten, we don’t see the whole picture of what someone is dealing with in their lives. Often, people are ashamed of the battles they face.

I hope that this movie creates a movement to change the way we treat others. I’d love to see us help others avoid hitting their last STRAW.

If you haven’t watched the Straw movie, then I recommend you consider it.
