The time has come for spring cleaning. Now is the perfect time to give your home more breathing room to soak up that fresh spring air. I do believe Del loves spring cleaning more than I do. He firmly believes in removing all the excess clutter in our home as much as possible. It isn’t very pleasant sometimes, but I love the results once he’s done. It was hard for me to get used to his desire to have less in our home than I’m used to. However, sometimes less is truly more.
I never knew so many things add to the clutter in our home. These little things tend to accumulate over time. Most of the time, they just take up precious space that can be used for other things. Sometimes, these items lead to more housework, too. I don’t know about you, but every minute can add up to me making more precious memories or money. Some of the items you decide to get rid of could benefit you and someone else, too.

FREE PRINTABLE SPRING CLEANING REMOVAL CHECKLIST
I have made a Spring Cleaning Clutter Removal Checklist for you to check off 30 items that will make your life better. You could hand your teens different-colored highlighters and tell them the one who takes care of the most items on the list that you’ve circled that they can tackle for you wins something. I know my kids are competitive enough that they would jump at the chance to do this. Then, that would leave you with a small handful of items for you to conquer in peace.

Tips for Removal Items
Many things can be done with the items you decide to eliminate. After all, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
- Host a yard sale or sell online.
- Unwanted clothes, appliances, and duplicate utensils to Salvation Army or Goodwill (These places give you receipts that can be used on your taxes for donations. This can be pretty impactful at tax time. Plus, it’s good for the soul.)
- Books to nursing homes, or if you have excess kids’ books, give them to an adoption center.
- Expired coupons help the military troops.
- Turn Old T-shirts into a quilt for a loved one using Quilt My Shirts (they have no affiliation with this site other than my liking of their products).
- Scan photos you want to keep. The Minimalist Mom also shared ideas about What to Do with Your Old Photos.
- Use thredUP to get money back for outgrown clothes. Use my referral link and get a $10.00 credit right away.
- Old Electronics: Donate or recycle any outdated tech that you no longer use.
- Expired Medications and Beauty Products: Check expiration dates and dispose of them safely.
- Old Magazines and Newspapers: Recycle those stacks you’ve been meaning to read. Or create collages with your kids/grandkids for meaningful experiences.
- Broken or Damaged Items: If it’s beyond repair, it’s time to let it go.
- Expired Food: Check your pantry, fridge, and freezer for expired items.
- Unused Kitchen Gadgets: Those single-use gadgets take up space in your drawers.
Here are some less commonly thought-of items that you might consider decluttering during your spring cleaning:
- Old Cables and Chargers: Those mysterious wires you no longer know what they belong to.
- Receipts and Bills: Digitalize important ones and dispose of the rest.
- Instruction Manuals: Most can be found online if needed.
- Gift Wrapping Supplies: Scraps and leftovers that have seen better days.
- Old Cards and Invitations: Keep the sentimental ones, but let go of the rest.
- Restaurant Menus: You might not need physical copies anymore with everything online.
- Extra Buttons: How often have you sewn them onto clothes?
- Old Keys: Do you even remember what they unlock?
- Unused Craft Supplies: Donate what you won’t use to schools or community centers.
- Old Party Supplies: Leftovers from events you won’t likely use again.

Good tips. I didn’t know the military can use expired coupons. That’s great. I would add that books can also be taken to women’s shelters as well. Thank for sharing this post at the Will Blog for Comments #28 linkup. Hope to see you again next week.
