My Review of The Tiger Rising Movie

The Tiger Rising Movie Review And Giveaway 1

This movie wasn’t what I was expecting at all. My daughter, who is ten years old, stated the story was a bit puzzling to follow along. She also felt it was an overall sad movie to watch. I personally followed the story, but do feel like it was all over the place. It was almost like they couldn’t fully figure out how to tell the story they wanted to express.

The tiger is nothing more than a symbol throughout the movie. I was figuring this movie would be more about the tiger. As an animal lover, I was a bit disappointed about this revelation.

There are plenty of topics that are addressed throughout this movie which is kind of the reason it was hard to follow. Honestly, I think we had the advantage because we reviewed the Faith and Family Discussion Guide prior to the movie so we had a general idea of what to expect.

Here are some of the key topics addressed in the guide:

Activities that support release are included throughout as they explore what it means to move negative emotions out of their bodies and “rise up” towards a life of freedom.

• Section I. Sadness (Rob Horton)
• Section II. Anger (Sistine Bailey)
• Section III. Control (Beauchamp)
• Section IV. Chaos (Miss Mills)
• Section V. Freedom (Willie Mae)

As a child, I was filled with fear and anger all rolled in one because my home was anything but pleasant. Just like Sistine, I used to dream of the day when my Dad would come take me away from it all. But he never did. But I did grow to realize that day was never going to happen in my early teens.

So, it was easy for me to relate to Sistine’s character because I dealt with people the same way when I was her age. I took on crowds of kids like it was nothing because I truly didn’t care if I got beaten up or not. I always stood up for the underdogs in school. I was considered an outcast if you will. (I still am in large groups of people.)

The Tiger Rising Movie Review And Giveaway 2

While The Tiger Rising movie was confusing and definitely all over the place, I still found some points about it that were worth sharing. But I do feel it’s not going to be one that kids are going to watch too eagerly.
