The Paul’s Promise movie reminded me so much of my mom’s faith in God prior to her passing. I was eager to watch this movie to see what his promise was to his mother that could truly change his life.

Set in the peak of the 1960s Civil Rights movement, “Paul’s Promise” is the inspiring true story of Paul Holderfield, former racist firefighter-turned-pastor who started one of the first integrated churches in the American South. It’s one man’s journey to hope and healing during a troubled time in our Nation’s history that resulted in one man’s decision to serve God and stand up to injustice – a story that continues to make a huge impact on the community to this day.

My Review of Paul’s Promise Movie
Paul’s Promise movie was a bit of a drawn-out movie. However, the story was solid and true. I’m glad I stuck it out till the end to see how a mother’s prayer didn’t fail her.
It seems everything makes me think of my own Mom or things from my past lately. Linda made me think of my own momma praying for my faith to be restored in God prior to her passing.
One of my mom’s dying requests was to ensure that the preacher reminded me that I was the one who brought my mom back to God when I was a child. I endured a lot of hell growing up, and yet my faith in God was steadfast. Then I lose it for a period of time, and my mom feared I would not gain it back.
Paul’s Mom was on her knees daily praying for those she loved, but at the top of the list was her son, Paul. She prayed with a vengeance that he would gain his faith back. He steadily refused to meet her at the cross. She made him promise that he would go to church and pray for those on her list for her.
This was a wholesome movie. It shared how there were racial and faith issues that needed to be mended during that time. What’s sad, is I still feel those issues are just as much an issue today as they were during that time frame.
I would recommend Paul’s Promise movie to any mother who needs encouragement that their prayers still may be answered. God just has his OWN will and timing for when things should be done.
