Physical injury can be life-changing, especially for those who had an active, engaging lifestyle, and has kept meaningful relationships with a lot of people prior to an accident. Your family will always be there for you, even if you think you’ll be a burden to them because of an injury. You don’t want to be an inconvenience for them, but that’s often not the case. They want to reach out and understand your situation so that they can also adjust accordingly and accommodate your needs.
This is also true with friends and other close companions. You might feel like the injury will hinder them from having fun with you, but oftentimes, it’s your presence that they really want and appreciate. Rather than feel sorry for yourself, find ways to open up with your friends, so that they know exactly how you feel, and in turn, they can also openly tell you what they feel about your situation.
Understand what the injury means to you
From having an active lifestyle, you may now find yourself with limited mobility because of an injury. This could really put you down at first, which is very understandable especially if you rely on your active lifestyle to keep you busy or interact with others. But after a while, you should try to reevaluate yourself, dig deep and understand what the injury means to you. Know that whatever state you’re in now does not define who you are. Take responsibility, but don’t blame yourself
