I almost didn’t finish watching this movie. Not because it was bad, but because life had other plans. Looking back, I’m glad I came back to it because Voicemails for Isabelle wasn’t at all what I expected. Before I get into my thoughts, here’s a little about the story.

Jill copes with her sister’s death by leaving her voicemails chronicling her chaotic life in San Francisco. When the number is unknowingly reassigned, an elusive Austin real estate agent begins receiving the hilariously confessional messages.
My Movie Review of Voicemails for Isabelle
This was actually a movie my 15-year-old daughter wanted to watch with me. But after the opening scenes, we both agreed it wasn’t something we felt comfortable watching together, so we picked something else instead.
Still, I was intrigued enough that I went back and finished it on my own.
I’m so glad I did.
Voicemails for Isabelle made me laugh, cry, and left me with all the warm, fuzzy feelings by the time the credits rolled.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I believe things happen for a reason. I also believe our loved ones have a way of reminding us they’re still with us in the moments we need them most.
Ironically, I watched this movie during a season when I was missing my mom more than usual. On her birthday, June 12th, my family and I spotted a beautiful double rainbow while talking about my dream of opening an equine therapy center. My mom and I always believed double rainbows were a sign that we were on the right path. In fact, one of the last double rainbows we saw together was the night before I married my husband.
So this movie touched my heart in ways I wasn’t expecting.
Could something like this really happen? Honestly… it wouldn’t surprise me.
Without giving away too many spoilers, I’ll simply say this: the voicemails allowed someone to fall in love with the real person behind them. There was no pretending, no filters—just honesty, vulnerability, and a glimpse into someone’s heart.
Sometimes that’s exactly what changes a life. Before I say too much, I’m going to stop here. This is one you’ll want to experience for yourself.
