If you’re looking for an entertaining series to watch during these snowstorms, then I suggest Crossroad Springs on the Great American Pure Flix streaming service. This series has a well-written storyline and the ideal cast to pull it off. It’s already been confirmed that it will renew for another season. It’s a great binge-watching series.

“Crossroad Springs” follows the Hamilton family, adult siblings James (Stoddard) and Janet (Alatalo), their aging family members, dad, Willis (Johnston), and Aunt Amy (Drummond), who are eking out a living on Hamilton Ranch with financial hardships and staffing shortages. James, a pastor in Chicago, and Janet, an ER doctor in a neighboring town, feel called to return home to help the family. Once there, the siblings encounter the son of the owner of the neighboring farm, Daniel Newman (Hutch), who are all wary of each other due to a generational feud between the families. My Review of Crossroad Springs Series
As a longtime fan of Heartland, I couldn’t bring myself to overlook Crossroad Springs once I saw Shaun Johnston starring in both. I’ve watched every season of Heartland as soon as it’s released, and his character has always been one of my favorites. Maybe that’s because there’s something about him that reminds me of loved ones I miss. There’s a familiarity and steadiness there that feels comforting.
Both series capture the strength of close-knit families working together to preserve what matters most. While Heartland tends to center more heavily on Amy’s journey, Crossroad Springs feels more rooted in Willis’s storyline, giving the show a different but equally meaningful focus. Because of that, I’m genuinely hopeful to see Crossroad Springs continue for multiple seasons. It’s refreshing to watch Shaun Johnston in a role where his character anchors the story, and I hope he remains at the heart of the series long before the next generation steps in.
Growing up in a small town myself, where neighbors looked out for one another and community truly mattered, this series feels especially authentic. Crossroad Springs beautifully reflects that kind of life, one built on faith, cooperation, and shared responsibility. I especially appreciate how the show weaves in moments of scripture and gentle reminders about kindness, compassion, and treating others with care. It’s a heartfelt portrayal of small-town life that resonates deeply with me.
I can’t wait to see what Season 2 brings us. I hope we see a more positive outcome for all families involved.
