I couldn’t wait to watch Ginny & Georgia Season 2. I absorbed season 1 rather quickly. I couldn’t do the same thing with season 2. Season 2 of Ginny and Georgia sure had a lot of details in it to grasp. I tried not to give too many things away on the series!

About Ginny & Georgia

Ginny & Georgia Season 2 Thoughts 1

How do you live with the knowledge that your mother is a murderer? That’s what Ginny is going to have to figure out. Burdened with the new understanding that Kenny – her step-dad – didn’t die of natural causes, now Ginny must deal with the fact that Georgia not only killed, she killed to protect Ginny. Georgia on the other hand would much prefer that the past be left in the past, after all, she’s got a wedding to plan! But the funny thing about Georgia’s past is that it never stays buried for long…

My Review of the Ginny & Georgia Series on Netflix

As I stated this was a LOT to take in from 10 episodes. As a person who has dealt with an abusive domestic past, it was a hard pill to swallow throughout it too. Not to mention, the battle of depression on top of it all.

I’m trying not to give too many details away about the show. But I’ll never forget the feeling of holding a 22 rifle up against my stepfather and daring him to hit my mom one more time. To this day, there are soooo many times I regret NOT pulling the trigger on him. Because it’s extremely rare that a monster ever gets tamed.

This show has so many crazy twists and turns to it. But here’s the sad truth there are so many families that actually do have these kinds of dark stories they can share and relate to. And it is a matter of survival mode that causes so many of them.

Parents aren’t given guides on how to raise their kids. We can be as diligent as humanly possible, and they still slip through the cracks of everything on us. I know I’m dealing with issues I never dreamed I would ever have to as a parent.

While many issues are totally different for our teenagers and there are drastic shifts to it all, the reality is learning how to navigate the emotional ride of being a teenager has gotten three times worse in my book.

Parents have their own demons that tend to come back and haunt them as they are raising their teenagers. It’s spooky how much of me I see in my youngest son and his journey to figuring out who he is as a person. Georgia had to wake up and see that Ginny is becoming her OWN person, and has her OWN needs that must be addressed.

As a parent who struggles with that same issue, it was like a wake-up call for me too. I tend to have a bit of a narcissistic personality. (This is NOT something I’m proud of, and I DO strive diligently to showcase how much others matter to me!)

The whole scared of becoming a version of your mother. Oh wow, I can’t tell you how much that struck a chord with me. I couldn’t stand my mother growing up, and I thought she was horrible. But after I became a single mother and had to see just how hard life can be as one I gained a new respect for all my mom went through.

Ginny & Georgia is a series like Gilmore Girls, but instead of being all about sweet and innocent topics, it covers the darker side of life. The reality is people off Gilmore Girls wouldn’t comprehend the harsh realities of life from the Ginny & Georgia world.

Since they left us off on a serious cliffhanger, I’m pretty confident we’ll be seeing more of Ginny & Georgia. I just hope we don’t have to wait as long for another season.
