It has dawned on me in the past year that many people are either working, tending to their needs or their families needs, or sleeping. They have left very little room in their daily lives for leisure activities. It is my desire to help everyone to make time for everything in their life including more time for themselves and fun adventures with their loved ones. There are many reasons why someone should have a hobby.
Reasons Why You Should Have A Hobby
Gives You Something To Do
This is pretty obvious! When you get hooked on doing something other than working and necessary tasks it provides you with an incentive to get things done in a timely manner.
Meet Like Minded People
I feel that in the society we live in there is a lot of instant connection that can be made with others online. However, we’ve lost the desire to see people face to face. Nothing can beat the ability to see someone’s entire reaction to something that was said or done.
If you take on a hobby that you do at home or can do in a local class then you increase your chances of meeting other like-minded people in person. It’s nice to do things with others outside of your family from time to time too.
Improve Your Health
When you take the time to do your favorite hobby, it can help decrease how much of a hold that depression can have on a person. It can also help a person to de-stress. If you take on a physical activity it can help a person to stay fit.
Potential For Income Increase
Many hobbies can lead to a person gaining money doing something they love. For example, I never dreamed I’d make money blogging, but it has lead to that. I’m no longer bringing in large sums of money from it, but I did in the past. I feel confident in my abilities to make it happen again in the future.
Learn New Skills
When a person takes on a new hobby, they may be required to learn new skills in order to do it. When I first started blogging, I spent over half of my time learning how to do many of the behind the scenes stuff that goes into blogging for income.
Sense of Pride
Many hobbies require you to create or do something that can give you recognition for doing it. Blogging has boosted my self-confidence because I see my stats improve and I hear from my loyal readers how I’m helping them in some way. A person can gain a sense of pride from making a garden or some piece of artwork. My husband takes pride in finishing video games or leveling up. We can all use a bit of self-esteem boosting.
These are my primary reasons why you should have a hobby.
