I have been one of those people who was journaling long before it was cool. I had a huge stack of them that I had hoped to give my kids when they were older, but unfortunately, they got ruined in a flood. When I was given the chance to review Ellie Claire Art Journals, I jumped at the chance. I did use to write in Calligraphy when I was a teenager. These books looked like a great way to combine both my love of writing and Calligraphy together.

These journals are ideal for someone who likes to write and be artistic at the same time. There are many different things to do with these books. Each one has their own unique spin.

Faith & Lettering Journal

This journal is for the person wanting to rekindle their devotional time. This book is for someone wanting to learn how to do fancy lettering with some simple graphics included. It’s also ideal for learning how to make sermon notes too. I like the colorful lettering scriptures that are throughout this book. I like how I can put my own spin on everything.

Illuminate Your Story Journal

This book is designed to provide the user with easy to follow directions, uplifting quotes, and a section for your own attempts. This book goes through how to create illustrated lettering. Plus, she shows you how to make a few other neat artistic graphics.

This book my youngest son wanted for himself. He likes to create things like this! He was like a kid in a candy shop learning how to make creative letters. He was tickled that he could learn how to draw two different kinds of owls for his grandmother.

The Illustrated Word

This book is full of forty illustrations from the archives of the Museum of the Bible. As the artist of this journal, you have the chance to color them yourself. Then you also have space for you to write out your sermon notes or personal thoughts.

Of the three books, I must say that I was most impressed with the Faith and Lettering Journal. I’m not overly artistic, but when I do decide to be this certainly up my alley. Ironically I thought I was going to like The Illustrated Word the most due to it being most like an adult coloring book.
