I’ve been a part of the Homeschool Review Crew for two years now. The first time around we had the pleasure of reviewing CTCMath and my kids adored it!! I was thrilled to receive CTCMath‘s Family Membership with my kids, and homeschoolers can get 60% off + 6 bonus months. This year I practically begged to be included in the review period for it. I’m utterly glad that I was an extremely squeaky wheel for this one.
CTCMath is an online Math curriculum that is for kids in grades from K-12. This program helps break down the principles of Math into manageable easy chunks.
Each lesson has videos tutorials that are slow and well laid out, interactive questions, worksheets, and reports.
You can get a single membership for $29.97 a month or $197.00 a year. A family membership is $39.97 or $297.00 a year.
First, let’s hear what my four kids have to say about this program:
Zeva – Kindergarten, “It’s good, but sometimes it’s hard. Sometimes it’s easy. I like using this program.”
Jimmy – 8th, “I like their old version better. The placement of everything on their older version is easier to manage. I like their new version. The material is sometimes easy to follow. Other times, it makes me confused.”
My friend’s daughter – 10th, “It’s confusing and hard to understand. I don’t like it at all.”
Delbert – 5th, “I like it. It’s easy for me to follow. I wish the lessons were a bit shorter.”
Me – Adult – Homeschool Parent
As their homeschool teacher, I find that CTCMath is the best program on the market that I’ve found that breaks down the Math principles into what I consider easy to follow steps. My oldest two kids are finding the material itself hard to wrap their heads around, but I think CTCMath does a good job of covering the material in a fashion that works well if you fully pay attention to it.
I consider the lessons to be reasonable in length because they can be done in less than 20 minutes time-frame if you pay full attention. I have seen my kids grasp the concepts more too. I don’t think they fully realize how much of a difference their time on CTCMath has made.
I LOVE their reports!! They send weekly reports for ALL family members who are signed up for the program. I like how detailed they are. I can see everything every user has done and their scores.
I had Delbert redo some of the 4th-grade material as a refresher. I did this since he wasn’t quite as strong as I wanted him to be in the material last year when we stopped. However, from all accounts, it looks like he learned more than I may have thought. It has built up his confidence in Math again that he was slowly losing last year. A child having confidence in their abilities is vital to learning success in my book.
