Since we have a couple high school Seniors in our family this year, I was proud to be able to offer them the chance to save THOUSANDS of dollars on their college tuition. This was made possible because we got the chance to review SpeedyPrep through the Homeschool Review Crew. SpeedyPrep is a program designed to help future college students to be able to a CLEP College Level Examination Program exam and become exempt from having to take a course over again in college.

SpeedyPrep is a program that allows future college students to be able to become exempt from having to take them AGAIN in college. This is a system that helps people to be prepared to take the CLEP exam. In case you’re like I was and have no clue what the CLEP exam, here’s a basic definition. It is an exam that people can take for certain subjects that will allow them to GAIN college credits without having to pay for the actual course AND they won’t have to take it either.

Now BEFORE you get overly excited, you need to be sure that you check to ensure that the college that the student is planning on attending will honor these exam scores and give them credit for taking the course. There is a long list of colleges that accept the CLEP results.

SpeedyPrep is filled with flashcards for the ALL of the topics above. These flashcards do NOT provide you multiple choices. You will have to fill in the blanks with the correct answer. If you miss the question, then you will be provided with the answer and explanations. The questions are asked repetitively in order to ensure you have mastered the material. There are also some videos to help you further conquer the material.

You can use this program on any device you may have provided you have access to wi-fi. You can study while you’re in between other things. The only thing you need to keep in mind is you can’t have it open on another device.

My Review

I had my nephew dive into studying some of the core subjects he can possibly pass a CLEP exam on. He’s planning on being a vet, and you know they have a LONG road to obtain their degrees. If he can find even a bit of an easier road to get there, I’m going to push help him to get there. He choose to take on American Literature and a few other topics.

Meanwhile, I decided to freshen up on my skills in College Algebra, Principles of Management, and Principles of Marketing. Let me just say, that I haven’t been in college for many years. It showed!! I knew the overall concepts, but remembering the exact terminology, that’s a whole different ball game! I felt like an amateur in these topics despite the fact that I made A’s in these topics in college.

SpeedyPrep doesn’t allow you to say you finished until you’ve made at least 90% overall score. It may take a person some time to accomplish that. However, if you’re fresh out of high school then these study guides may be a breeze to whiz through.

I feel that paying the $19.95 a month/$53.87 quarterly/$179.55 yearly fee for this program is well worth the cost. Please keep in mind, this is ONLY a study system to prepare you for the CLEP exams. There is a cost for taking the CLEP exams for each individual subject you’re wanting to try to get an exemption for. Regardless, it is a LONG way from having to pay $300-800 a course. Not to mention the amount of time you save by using this system!
