I don’t know about you, but I’m always on the hunt to save money and make money from home. It’s vitally important to me that I maintain some sense of independence even if I am a stay at home homeschooling mom. One of the things the internet has taught me is a broad range of simple ways one can put more money in your pockets. I’ve been talking to my friends lately, and it has shocked me how many of them don’t know these little tips and tricks to make it happen. I decided it was high time to create a roundup of things that I do that has helped me have more money each month to play with or pay off that bill that drives you nuts every time the bill comes in the mail.
Round UP Every Expense
This sounds like common sense, but there is still a vast majority of people who DON’T put this into practice. I have physical piggy banks that I got from Dollar Tree. Anytime I retrieve physical change it goes straight to those banks.
Also, many banks offer to do this anytime you use your debit card with them too. They will automatically transfer the change to a savings account of your choice with their bank.
Average earnings a month: $20-50 a month.
This by far one of my favorite apps to earn money back from things I already do. Ibotta is an app that gives you cash back for making purchases on many different selected items from major retailers. They have now made an update that has increased my earnings. One can get money back from shopping on Amazon, using Uber, and Groupon and many more places online.
I haven’t used this app for long, and I’ve already earned almost $45.00. I love the fact that I can cash out via PayPal with only a $20.00 minimum.
ShopKick is another one of those apps that are remarkably easy to earn rewards. It’s as simple as walking into a store. ShopKick gives you Kicks for walking into major retailers like Walmart, Bi-Lo, CVS, and much more. While you’re there, you can earn even more Kicks just for scanning products that they request. Then IF you choose to purchase those same items listed and you scan your receipts, you gain even more Kicks.
These Kicks can be redeemed for gift cards to Walmart, T.J. Maxx, and Target (YES, I said Target!!) just to name a few. It doesn’t take long for the Kicks to add up either. I’ve seen some people sign up and by the end of the day, they have the ability to cash out for a gift card.
This is another website that will give you cash back for shopping online. You can earn money back with some stores in person. If you get the mobile app, you’ll be able to know which stores you can earn money back instantly.
Ebates gives you money back via PayPal or a check. I haven’t used this program quite as much as I probably should have.
I have earned $19.83 to date so far.

Savings Catcher from Walmart
This is probably the simplest way to put more money in your pockets. If you shop at Walmart at all, then let your receipts work for you. Get the Walmart App and then scan your receipts into the Savings Catcher. IF Walmart finds a lower price at a competitor, then they will refund you the differences.
I love the fact that I can cash in my rewards regardless the amount of money I get back from them either in the form of a Walmart e-gift card or a Bluebird American Express card. The ONLY downfall I can find is that you can only earn $599.99 a year back from them. (I imagine that is to keep us from having to pay taxes on our money back.)
I just started using this during this quarter and have made $31.05 so far.
I LOVE Swagbucks. I make sure I earn at least 3 Swagbucks a day. I answer their poll question, do a daily search, and check out the daily deal. Those three things take less than 2 minutes to do. I use Swagbucks as my primary search engine. I gain many Swagbucks that way. I have cashed out many times throughout the year. I’ve been able to get kids birthday gifts with these gift cards that they loved. Since I use the extension I also gain Swagbucks when they send out a Swagcode.
Honey is a Chrome extension that looks for savings for you as you shop online. It’s simple to use.
Piggy is like Honey. It finds you rebates and deals. All you have to do is have it added as an extension.
TopCashback is another site that gives you cash back for purchases you make online. It offers up some pretty high percentages back for things you already plan on buying. TopCashback has some companies that the other sites don’t have.
Groupon is money savings site in and of itself. You can find deals for MANY things on there. I can remember when I thought it was only for travel deals. They have deals in a wide range of things.
In fact, right now, they have a deal Rock ‘N Learn Educational 8-DVD Preschool Collection for only $23.99. As a homeschooler obtaining homeschool supplies on a budget, I appreciate the fact that Groupon offer discounts on things I need AND want! Their travel deals are quite awesome too.
I also save money by using coupon saving apps. The Dollar General app is my favorite because they provide loads of coupons on the app for products I already use daily. I also use the coupon that they hand out during the week for me to use on Saturdays that always provides me with either $3-5.00 off my purchases. PLUS, there are many items that are redeemable for money through Ibotta too. Also, I can use manufacturer coupons there too. Dollar General is a place that is full of money making opportunities.
I also use Savings Star to get coupons and money back. I’m still learning how to use this app to the fullest so I haven’t earned anything YET.
Don’t forget to check out your favorite coupon bloggers site for even more ways to save and earn money. Yes, people DO in fact get money back from using coupons.
