I am a woman who has to be able to have a system in place to keep track of everything I’m doing or else something gets lost in the cracks. When it comes to our homeschool records, I can’t afford to leave anything to chance. Due to that reason, I’m glad I was given the chance to review My School Year (Homeschool Record Keeping) from MySchoolYear.com through the Schoolhouse Review Crew.
About My School Year (Homeschool Record Keeping)
My School Year (Homeschool Record Keeping) is a program designed to help homeschool families with keeping track of all of the various aspects of their homeschool year. The primary purpose of this annual online membership is that it allows you to keep track student’s educational history for the whole year. It keeps records of their attendance, lessons they’ve completed, their grades, and even the books they’ve read for the year. It even creates report cards and transcripts for you.
This program is perfect for the homeschooling family who wants to be able to do everything online. They can use it anywhere without having to carry anything extra along. Plus, it makes it easy to record activities as they happen. You can get it all for $5.00 a month or pay the annual membership fee of $40.00. Regardless which option you choose, you can get a free month trial.
I found this system to be a bit more complex to use than I anticipated. I found their Teacher’s Aid section didn’t cover everything I needed to get started using this program with ease. HOWEVER, their customer support was readily available to help with any issues I had with figuring out the site.
Once I did get used to using this online homeschool planner system, I found that I enjoyed having all of their educational records at my fingertips. Considering the boys are doing the summer reading program, the reading log section of this program will come in handy. Plus, there is a spot for to keep track of their field trips, awards they earn, and standardized testing scores.
The only other drawback was the fact that I had to go into each individual child’s account to see everything. You can easily copy information to more than one child though with ease. You just can’t physically see the whole class’s schedule at once. If that’s an option, I missed it.
Overall, I do like this online homeschool planner system. It reminds me of a teacher’s lesson plan book with a grade book all rolled into one big record keeping system. I feel that someone who uses online scheduling/planner systems in other ways will truly LOVE having this system to use for their homeschooling journey.
If your a family who does a lot of traveling or learning outside of the home, then this product is a must have for you. It will easily allow you to update all of your child’s information on the go anywhere you have Internet.
