For the last several weeks my husband has been using Manhood Journey Father’s Starter Kit, a father-son Bible study, from Manhood Journey & City on a Hill Studio with our two boys. It is a study guide for fathers and sons to do together one on one or in a group setting. My crew chooses to do the one on one system because my husband wanted to ensure that he reached our son’s souls.

First off let me say that this kit intrigued me from the word go because it is partly created by Kent Evans, who wrote Wise Guys: Unlocking Hidden Wisdom from the Men Around You. I had the chance to review this book a long time ago, and have since given it to my youngest son. He has read this book NUMEROUS of times and has tried diligently to abide by the advice found in that book. I’m thrilled to have another copy to give to my oldest son.
That book helped to get my boys interested in taking part in the Manhood Journey Father’s Starter Kit. My husband opted for doing the one on one session with the kids rather than a group setting because he felt that each of them would need to learn different things since there is a four-year gap between the two boys.
There is a message for fathers at the beginning of each session. Then there is a four-part process that they followed for the last six weeks. The first step involved making time for one another in various forms of activities in hopes of building a bond. Then they dived into Bible study. They gained solid examples and ideas of how they could take what they’ve learned to serve others. At the closing, they took the time to talk with God.
Watching my boys grow and thrive into more godly men was impressive. They both strived to serve us and others more. They have been working diligently to honor us more. They are being more kind to others too. You can clearly see that this time spent under the mentorship of their father with this program has made an impact throughout the house. Needless to say, I recommend this program.
I’m hoping that my men will continue on this journey and do the rest of the steps.
