The time has come for spring cleaning. Now is the perfect time to give your home more breathing room to be able to soak up that fresh spring air. I do believe Del loves spring cleaning more than I do. He firmly believes in removing all the excess clutter in our home as much as possible. It’s rather annoying at times, but I love the results once he’s done. It was hard for me to get used to his desire to have less in our home than I’m used to. However, sometimes less is truly more.

I never knew there were so many things that add to the cluttering mess in our home. These little things tend to accumulate over time. Most of the time they are just taking up precious space that can be used for other things. Sometimes these items lead to more housework too. I don’t know about you, but every minute can add up to me making more precious memories or money. Some of the items you decide to get rid of could be of benefit for you and someone else too.

I have made a Spring Cleaning Clutter Removal Checklist for you to check off 30 items that will make your life better. You could hand your teens different color highlighters and tell them the one who takes care of the most items on the list that you’ve circled that they can tackle for you wins something. I know my kids are competitive enough they would jump at the chance to do this. Then that would leave you with a small handful of items for you to conquer in peace.

Tips for with Removal Items

Many things can be done with the items you decide to get rid of. After all, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

  • Host a yard sale or sale online. (Here are 10 Sites to Sell Your Products.)
  • Unwanted clothes, appliances, and duplicate utensils to Salvation Army or Goodwill (These places give you receipts that can be used on your taxes for donations. This can be pretty impactful at tax time. Plus, it’s good for the soul.)
  • Books to nursing homes or if you have excess kids’ books give them to an adoption center.
  • Expired coupons help the military troops. Be sure to check out The Krazy Coupon Lady’s blog post telling you how to send coupons for the military.
  • Turn Old T-shirts into a quilt for a loved one using Quilt My Shirts (they have no affiliation with this site, other than me liking their products.)
  • Scan photos you want to keep. The Minimalist Mom also shared some ideas in her What to Do with Your Old Photos.
  •  Use thredUp to get money back for outgrown clothes. Use my referral link and get $10.00 credit right away.
