An Adult Coloring Addicts Must Have List

I got into adult coloring LONG before it was cool to be doing it as an adult. Once the popularity of adult coloring grew, I was able to get on board with reviewing a broad range of adult coloring books and supplies. I’ve had a blast doing it. As a result, I feel somewhat confident in the suggestions I’m making to you for your adult coloring addiction. This adult coloring addicts must have listed will help you with your present shopping needs that are coming up rather quickly too.

I have learned through talking to other adult coloring enthusiasts that we all like to color with different types of products. For example, I am NOT a huge fan of using colored pencils, but I have reviewed a good many of them on Amazon, so I can still tell you the ones worth getting. My mother-in-law LOVES using colored pencils for her quilting projects. It is my hope that I’m covering everyone’s different preferences with this list.

My Favorite Adult Coloring Books:

2016 Coloring Calendar: An Adult Coloring Calendar Featuring 300+ Beautiful Coloring Pages for a Stress-Free, Relaxing, and Creative 2016! (Jenean Morrison Adult Coloring Books)
Adult Coloring Calendar Book
Technically, this is the only book you’ll need all year to satisfy your adult coloring needs. However, if you like to do more than one picture a day, then you’ll need to keep looking. If you like this concept, there are already 2017 adult coloring calendars available too.
Meditation Coloring Book: Wonderful images to melt your worries away (Chartwell Coloring Books)
meditation coloring book
There are some nice pictures in this one, but I’m not a fan of ALL of the pages in this book. However, there are enough for me to say it’s worth getting still.
Mandalas: Coloring for Artists (Creative Stress Relieving Adult Coloring Book Series)
mandalas coloring for Artists
This is one of my favorite little mandalas books. I tend to make copies of these images so that I can color them with different colors and styles.
This is one of the images from this book:

Colorama Coloring Book for Adults with 12 Colored Pencils, Create Something Wonderful & Relax

This book is full of many beautiful pictures like the one above. They almost have every person’s coloring interests covered in this book. It has animals, flowers, mandalas, and so much more.
Color Counts: Garden
garden color counts
To me, these books really don’t leave much room for creativity, but it’s fun to play seek and find for the numbers I’m working on each time. Plus, I love to see the finished product when it’s done. For me, it’s like completing a puzzle without having to play the guessing game of where the pieces go. I also love the Landscapes Color Counts one too.

Adult Coloring Addict Supplies Suggestions

As you can see below, I asked other fellow adult coloring addicts what they like to use the most when they are coloring and at the time I wrote this post the winner was colored pencils with a whopping 75% colored pencils to 25% Sharpies.

I’m one of the 25% who loves using Sharpie colored markers! They work really well! I love the fine tip on them. I do wish Sharpie would come out with more colors.
Sharpie Markers Set

I’m also a fan of gel pens. I’ve been blessed to review many wonderful sets. Here are just a few of my favorites:
GL-Sail(TM) 48 Pack Diamante Tipped Gel Pens with Case, for Adult Coloring Books and Drawing (Glitter,Neon, Pastel,Metallic)
This is the set that is pictured on the main picture for this blog. These pens are thin and easy to hold for extended periods of time. They also glide onto the paper with little effort. The tips of the pens are very similar to that of a Sharpie.

Bright Knight Gel Pens, 36 Gel Pen Set, Quality Gel Ink Pens, Neon Pastel Metallic Glitter. Ideal for Mandalas, Adult Therapy coloring, Secret Garden
Bright Knight Gel Pens
I love this set with my other gel pens and Sharpies because it has BRIGHT neon colors. Plus, the other standard colors are just as bright. It’s almost like these pens are made for making signs.

PrismaColor Colored Pencils
Those are my favorite items, but if you’re into using colored pencils I’ve found that the vast majority of color addicts love Prismacolor Premier Soft Core Colored Pencils, 150-Pack. I must admit that even I liked them despite not having a strong love of using colored pencils.

I shared in my last newsletter a wide range of places where you can get FREE adult coloring pages to color. If you sign up for the newsletter now and want that list sent to you just shoot me an email at sharinglifesmoments@ after you sign up for the newsletter and I’ll send it your way. Don’t worry I won’t invade your inbox very often.

I hope this helps you with getting the tools and products that will make your adult coloring addict in your life whether that’s you or someone else happy. Another thing that may be of interest is the FREE Adult Books for Coloring Community where like-minded people share their love of adult coloring together.

What is something that I may have left off for the Adult Coloring Addicts Must Have List?

Find out how to make this Perfect Gift for Adult Coloring Addict: DIY Plant & Pen Desk Spinner here. It's pretty, useful, and personal.

P.S. My mother-in-law made this DIY Adult Coloring Pen and Plant Holder for me. It may be something else your adult coloring addict will want to have too.

    • Paintings are so pretty whether they are pre-laid out or from someone’s imagination. I’d love to see your work if you’d be interested in showing it. I’ve used Prisma Colors and have liked them, but it’s not my preferred product to use to color with.

Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I hope to see you again soon.

    • That is a GREAT suggestion. I would have thought about it too had I used pencils more. 🙂 I’m so glad you mentioned it!!

Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I hope to see you again soon.

    • I’m glad you like the list. I saw some colored Sharpies today at Dollar General and it took all my strength to keep walking by them because I have a coupon that will make them free when I get things for the house tomorrow. Coupons allow me to spoil myself here and there.

Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I hope to see you again soon.

    • I agree that it is VERY therapeutic. There is a huge debate over that fact, but it definitely helps mes. Thank you for checking out this list.
I appreciate you stopping by and commenting. I hope to see you again soon.

    • I love those kinds of things too, but so far no one has gotten me any. 🙁 Do you want to adopt me as your Christmas Santa person? LOL

Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I hope to see you again soon.

    • I’m kind of surprised to hear you’re not doing adult coloring already, but if you did start I believe you’d end up just as hooked. 🙂 LOL. Can you tell I’m a bit bias about the topic?

Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I hope to see you again soon.

  1. I got into adult coloring books for awhile but the novelty wore off. I am always doing something creative whether it be writing, taking pictures, painting, or even coloring which is usually done with my littles. Great post and thanks for linking up with #momsterslink. Hope to see you again sometime every Thurs-Sun!

    • That’s awesome that you’re always doing something creative. I don’t have a wide range of creativity in me, and that may be why I still love adult coloring.

Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I hope to see you again soon.

  2. I finally got my first adult coloring book for Christmas this past year. I bought it and some prismacolor colored pencils for an activity we could do as a group while the larger family was together. We’re trying to move from gifts to shared experiences. I think the kids might like markers better because it’s quicker. My son said, “this makes me want to scream – it does not make me feel relaxed.” 🙂

    • I only recommend using the ultra fine point ones unless you’re coloring big sections. I’ve tried all of them. 😉

Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I can’t wait to see you again soon.
